• Find Me a Home Project - provides temporary accommodation to multi-barriered immigrant/refugee women who are fleeing abusive situations by providing emergency and temporary accommodation for them and their children in a motel or hotel for a maximum of 3 nights stay until stable housing is established. • New Friends and Neighbourhood Groups - The program helps immigrant women living in different areas around Calgary practice English and build friendships. For More Info Click Here

LANGUAGE TRAINING

• Everyday English for Seniors - The project focuses on enhancing English oral and written skills that enable immigrant seniors to become more confident and actively participate in their integration process in Canada. For More Info Click Here

• HIPPY - Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters - The program provides immigrant women and their families support with literacy skills to prepare their preschool aged children for school. For More Info Click Here

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

• Career Services for Foreign Trained Professionals - supports immigrant women to practice their skills and gain experience needed to enter the Canadian workplace.  Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill training including digital skill building. Career planning includes individualized labour market assessment, employment skill building and job search support. Eleven weeks of classroom training is followed by 12 weeks of Canadian work experience. The program is available to immigrant women who are permanent residents or refugees with a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 or higher. The program hosts 2 concurrent intakes. • Caregiver Companion Training - provides immigrant women with skills and knowledge to fulfill the caregiver companion needs of seniors or individuals with disabilities or long term health issues. Clients will receive training in effective communication, supportive listening, stimulating leisure activities, maintaining daily schedules, ethics, abuse prevention, infection prevention, and medication assistance. • Child Development Worker Training - a 12-month program offered in collaboration with Bow Valley College. The program prepares CIWA clients, currently working at daycare centers, to provide quality child care in a wide variety of settings and complete the Child Development Worker Certification (formerly Level 2). Throughout the program, clients are offered professional support to advance in their careers and to positively impact the lives of children in their care. For More Info Click Here

• Childcare Training Pathway - trains and assists low skilled immigrant women to obtain a Child Development Assistant Certificate. Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill and employment skills training. The program is available to immigrant women with less than twelve years of education and Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 3-4. Eligible clients include permanent residents, refugees and Canadian citizens with language and cultural barriers as approved by Alberta’s Learner Income Support Office. For More Info Click Here

• Fast Track Employment Training for Immigrant Women - provides mid-skilled immigrant women training in one of 3 tracks, individualized support and employment skills training. The three tracks are Administrative Support Skills, Front Line Customer Service Skills and Protection Skills (security guard). • Food Service Training - provides low to mid skilled immigrant women with training to enter the quick service industry. Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill and employment skills training. Training includes food safe handling and certification, customer service and cash register handling. • Labour Market Bridging for Volunteers: Interpretation and Translation - provides certified training in community interpretation and hands-on experience in interpretation and translation.  Training includes the curriculum of Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities (CISOC). Volunteers obtain certification through the Cultural Interpreter Language Interpretation Skills Assessment Test (CILISAT).  The program follows a social enterprise model, collaborates with businesses and agencies to offer paid interpretation and translation work to program graduates. Eligible clients include permanent residents who currently volunteer with CIWA. Candidates must have Canadian Language Benchmark of 7 and higher as well as oral and written proficiency in a second language. For More Info Click Here

• Line Cook Training - provides mid skilled immigrant women with training to enter cook, prep cook and kitchen help roles. Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill and employment skills training. Training focuses on professionalism, safety and sanitation, kitchen operation, preparation and cooking. • Links to Young Adult Employment - provides young immigrant and refugee mothers with training and support to develop a long-term career plans and to enter meaningful employment. Clients receive essential skill training, including digital skill building, Canadian workplace preparation, one-on-one career planning, one-one-one mentoring and employment skill training. The program is available to immigrant mothers who are permanent residents or refugees with and a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 or higher. • Modular Employment - provides low skilled immigrant women training to enter housekeeping, room attendant and kitchen help roles. Training includes health and safety, working with others, workplace expectations, customer service, schedules and phones, kitchen help, WHMIS, and room attendant skills. Clients receive one on one resume and job search assistance. The program accepts new clients every Monday year round. The program is available to immigrant women who are permanent residents with Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 2 and higher. For More Info Click Here

• Retail Training Program - provides low skilled immigrant women training to enter retail roles. Clients receive English language enhancement, essential skill and employment skills training. Training focuses on customer service, cash handling, health and safety, working with others, food demonstration and entry level job access primarily focused on the grocery sector. • Family Conflict Prevention Program - The program provides professional, culturally-sensitive counselling for immigrant women and their families who are experiencing transition challenges, relationship problems, abuse and trauma. For More Info Click Here

• Family Resource Network - Immigrant/Newcomer (non-geographic) - is an inclusive and accessible family-focused, child and youth-centered, community-based center that offers a full continuum of prevention and early intervention services focused on supporting the wellbeing of families with children and youth aged 0 – 18 years. • Grandma's Kitchen - This project assists the isolated senior immigrant women to enhance their ability to effectively communicate and contribute their skills to the communities they live in. The group focuses on self esteem, healthy living, living and adapting to life in Canada. Through this group, senior immigrant women are able to make new friends, study English, learn multicultural recipes and share ideas and concerns. For More Info Click Here

• In-Home Support Program - assists immigrant and refugee families in Calgary with children between 0 and 17 years of age to overcome issues around family violence, parenting, etc. For More Info Click Here

• One-on-One Counselling for Immigrant Women - The program provides immigrant women (including seniors and youth) with the opportunity to become involved in the community and develop a sense of belonging. For More Info Click Here

• Supports for Immigrants and Refugees with Mental Health and Addiction Issues: A culturally sensitive approach - ensures that immigrants and newcomers are able to identify and seek support for addiction issues impacting their lives and build their resilience. The project enables them to feel safe and empowered to enhance their and their family’s well-being. Through this project, immigrants dealing with these issues will be able to reclaim their self-esteem and confidence to be in control of their lives and become positive role models for their children.
