About

Based out of Calgary's two largest post-secondary institutions, Lutheran Campus Ministry Calgary is a safe space for any and all young adults.  We are a Christian community focused on Christian programming but also spirituality and multi-faith programming that advocates the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community in all aspects of life and spirituality.

Our belief is that any and all should be able to benefit from an open, inclusive, and judgement-free community.

We hold a space for the spiritual-but-not-religious and for people on the margins of Christianity. Non-dogmatic, contemplative, experimental, and social-justice oriented, we honour all aspects of the human condition – the mind, body, and spirit. We are grounded in a liberal understanding of the Christian tradition and seek to affirm people of any, or of no particular, faith tradition. Our ministry has been useful to people of all orientations, backgrounds and upbringings.

  • The Simple Supper - In the past, the food is handmade every single week by our very own Rev. Margaret Propp and YYC Campus Ministry’s Rev. Tim Nethercott. Occasionally, we have churches get involved with the cooking as well. Each week, between both universities, we make about 20 litres of soup for students to enjoy. The soup varies every single week, but there are always a few staples about the meal which you can rely upon; it will be kosher, halal, vegetarian friendly, healthy, and free. But for now, during COVID we will meet online and ask you bring your own supper to the conversation! the conversation is simple, elegant and thought provoking. Based on the concept of a ‘taking circle’ our conversation centers around a friendly and open discussion of a universal theme. This theme becomes the center of the conversation, and those partaking discuss their reaction to the particular topic. For More Info Click Here

  • Women's Circle - The Women's Circle is an inclusive space for those who identify as female, gender non-conforming, non-binary or exploring other variations in gender expression or femaleness. The Women’s Circle is co-hosted by several Chaplaincies from UCalgary’s Faith and Spirituality Centre and MRU Chaplains. Twice per month we gather, and reflect personally around a wide range of topics. Our women’s circle intends to provide a gentle space where we can slow down, take a breath and make connections. • Dirty Theology - Dirty Theology is a space for young adults to build connections, get real and dig deep into the nitty-gritty of what our faith means in our daily lives. We will do this by meeting on the 1st Sunday of every month to explore some of the difficult parts of the Bible - the ones that are most challenging, dirty and messy. No wrong questions or answers - let’s get dirty, dig in, and explore together. For More Info Click Here
